Background
The City of Mississauga undertook the construction of the Lisgar District Utility Trench De-Watering and Foundation Drain Collector (FDC) Pumping Station to support utility trench de-watering and improve groundwater management. The project included the construction of the FDC pumping station, wet well, valve chamber, metering chamber, and the complete electrical, instrumentation, and control systems required for reliable operation.
Requirement
The project required a robust automation and instrumentation solution capable of delivering reliable pumping station operation while integrating seamlessly with the overall control infrastructure. The system needed to provide the following:
- Accurate PLC-based process control.
- Reliable local and remote SCADA visualization.
- Complete field instrumentation integration.
- Comprehensive testing, commissioning, and operator training for long-term operational reliability.
Project Scope
Valley Integration was responsible for the instrumentation and automation scope of the project, including:
- Supply, testing, and commissioning of field instrumentation.
- PLC programming for the Allen-Bradley CompactLogix 5380 Controller.
- SCADA development using Ignition Custom Package 8.09.
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- On-site operator training.
- Submission of complete project documentation, including panel drawings, PLC base load, SCADA backup, dialer lists, PCN documentation, and standard testing reports.
