Township of Springwater – Doran Neighborhood Water Treatment Plant & Sewage Pumping Station

Background

The Doran Neighborhood Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and Sewage Pumping Station (SPS) project was developed to expand the Township of Springwater’s municipal water and wastewater infrastructure. The project involved the construction of a new water treatment facility alongside a new sewage pumping station, complete with process equipment, electrical systems, instrumentation, and industrial automation.

Valley Integration was selected as the approved System Integrator to deliver the complete instrumentation, control panel, PLC programming, SCADA integration, and commissioning services, providing a reliable automation platform capable of supporting safe, efficient, and long-term plant operations.

Requirement

The project required a fully integrated automation and control system capable of supporting both water treatment and sewage pumping operations while ensuring reliable process monitoring, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The solution needed to provide:

  • Centralized PLC-based process automation.
  • Plant-wide SCADA monitoring and supervisory control.
  • Integration of advanced analytical and process instrumentation.
  • Reliable electrical control panels and communication systems.
  • Comprehensive testing, commissioning, documentation, and operator training for long-term operational success.
Project Scope

Valley Integration was responsible for delivering the complete instrumentation, control, and automation package, including:

  • Supply, installation, testing, and commissioning (SITC) of new PLC panels, Effluent Fan Panels, and Network Access Closet Panels.
  • Supply and integration of analytical process instrumentation, including chlorine, iron, pH, manganese, turbidity, ammonia analyzers, flowmeters, pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, and level transmitters.
  • PLC programming, HMI development, and GE iFIX Professional SCADA programming.
  • Control panel engineering, system integration, commissioning, and complete project documentation.
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and operator training for both instrumentation and PLC systems.
Technical Highlights

  • Control Panel Engineering & Integration: Designed, supplied, and commissioned PLC panels, Effluent Fan Panels, and Network Access Closet Panels to support reliable plant-wide automation and communications.
  • System Integration & Commissioning: Performed complete PLC, HMI, and SCADA integration; Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT); Site Acceptance Testing (SAT); commissioning; and operator training to ensure successful system deployment.
  • Documentation & Lifecycle Support: Delivered comprehensive engineering documentation to support efficient operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and future system expansion.
